La Groumelle is a perfect place from which to explore the Luberon National Park, its vineyards, the colourful markets of Isle sur la Sorgue, Coustellet and Apt and the beautiful hilltop villages of Gordes, Lacoste, Bonnieux, Lourmarin and Roussillon. Within the village of Menerbes, one of the most beautiful villages in France and an easy 15 minute walk away, there is a magnificent 14th Century church, spectacular views of the Luberon, several restaurants and art galleries as well as a bakery, general store, post office and chemist.
The Luberon is right on the doorstep and can be explored on foot along the clearly marked hiking trails or by bicycle with several velo routes offering the chance to venture off the beaten track. Less than an hour's drive away are the famous museums and monuments of Avignon, Orange, Arles, St. Remy de Provence, les Baux de Provence as well as the natural beauty of the Camargue, Mt. Ventoux and the Cote d'Azur.
